The Elementary School program uses the Russian national curriculum and the primary education curriculum of the International Baccalaureate Organization’s 'Primary Years Program' (PYP).
The learning process at MES is built on successive, continuous stages. We use three International Baccalaureate curriculums: the Primary Years Program (PYP) that is for the preschool, kindergarten and elementary school; the Middle Years Program (MYP) that is designed for the middle school; and the Diploma Program (DP) that is for our high school students. The basis of teaching and learning in primary education is inquiry. We design and implement educational activities to encourage the natural curiosity of children and they learn about the world around them while trying to find answers to the primary inquiry. The PYP has six questions or ideas it asks the students which forms the basis of the unit of inquiry:
- Who are we?
- Where are we in place and time?
- How do we express ourselves?
- How does the world work?
- How does the world work?
- Earth – our common home
