Foreign Language Week - 2018

6 марта 2018  Spring and Art take center-stage during MES Foreign Language Week

From 26 February to 1 March, students and teachers at MES Zaitsevo celebrated the school’s annual Foreign Language Week!

This year - following a school assembly in French, German, Spanish and English - grades 2-4 used iPads to investigate and create their own Spring bouquets in 3 different languages! Did you know a Daisy is also called Gänseblümchen, Margarita and Pâquerette!!!

At the PYP concert “Meeting Spring!”, students danced and sang along to their favorite French, German and Spanish songs. German students in the 2nd grade even performed a short play about friendship and going to school!

In the MYP, students in grades 5-8 explored the world of Art in their foreign language classes, creating interactive exhibition “The Art of Spring” using QR codes and their mobile devices! Posted next to the paintings on display, the QR codes linked to audio descriptions of the art work in French, German, Spanish, Chinese and English - all recorded by our talented students!

Finally, on Thursday 1 March, the first day of Spring, 9th and 10th graders joined their fellow students for the MYP and High School concert “Spring is Coming!” Notable performances included a Spanish poetry reading by 9th grade students Daniel Vostokov and Roman Surkov, a rock ‘n’ roll trio by 9th grade German students Ivan Syreskin and Vladislav Yudin, and a spooky French play, written and performed by 6th grade students Efim Golovaty, Stepan Kravtsov and Asya Medvedeva, and with a special performance (as the Mummy) by 6th grade form tutor Boris Аvtandilovich Khachapuridze!
