Неделя второго иностранного языка прошла успешно!

From March 6-10, students and teachers at MES Zaitsevo participated in the school’s annual celebration of Foreign Language Week!

«This year, grades 2-4 took us on a multi-lingual adventure – a quest through a day in the life of a primary school pupil! At the organizational assembly, students wowed those in attendance with performances in French, German and Spanish, and once the quest began, students showed off their foreign language knowledge and their ability to work together in teams!

Grades 5-7 enquired into the culture of food in the French, German and Spanish-speaking worlds. In their language classes they explored the history of the French croissant, the German strudel and the Spanish flan, demonstrating their knowledge and skills with multi-lingual posters and class presentations.

After learning the history of these dishes and how to talk about them in different languages, students  then mastered their preparation in culinary class. The delicious end result: MES’s first ever culinary competition – a head-to-head face-off between teams in the 5th, 6th, and 7th grades! Awards for the best presentations and the winners of the culinary competition – the 7th grade team – were announced at the week’s concert finale.

Foreign Language Week culminated this year in a grand finale Spring-themed concert, drawing on the music and film traditions of French, German and Spanish-speaking cultures. Grades 5-11 dazzled spectators with musical and theatrical performances, and Maria Kravtsova (9th grade) and Ekaterina Kadjaya (11th grade) each stole the show, singing songs by French artists Edith Piaf and Indila.
