Caribou Contest in MES

April 9, 2021

The Caribou Mathematics Competition or Caribou Cup is an international online math contest held six times over the school year. As all resources are completely virtual, they are as well-suited to distance learning, as they are to the traditional school environment.

Each contest is run at the 6 contest levels, Grade 2, 3/4, 5/6, 7/8, 9/10, and 11/12. All participants receive certificates for participation and achievement. Most important, Caribou Contests are designed to be accessible and enjoyable to students of all levels, not just those who excel in mathematics, it contains interactive questions loved by students and features mathematical puzzles rather than strictly knowledge-based questions.

Students of grades 2-9 of the MES Odintsovo Campus have been participating in this international mathematical competition for the four years already. Every year Stepan K., a 9th grade student, is included in the list of winners of the Caribou Contests Cup. Also, the winners of individual rounds of the competition during this year were: Olivia K., Sofia M., Elizaveta P., Emila Y.. In total, 86 students from the Odintsovo Campus and 25,000 students in the world took part in this competition during this academic year. The number of participants is growing every year. “Caribou Contests” has become a valuable educational resource for our students, which helps to improve not only mathematical knowledge, but also to practice in English language and be prepared for the International School Assessment (ISA).
