9th Graders Personal Projects Conquer the Mountains of Knowledge!

Would you like to learn about the history of vaccines? Would you like to learn about the efficiency of different types of antiseptics? Would you like to learn how stigma around mental health affects people globally? Would you like to learn how to create your own brand in clothes?

Then look no further! On Friday, March 5^th the 9^th Grade at our Odintsovo campus presented their personal projects. This is a crucial element of the IB program which was traditionally followed by the Moscow Economic School since it was established in 1993.

First of all, we’d like to thank Grade 9 for all their hard work – the results were amazing and many presentations were thought-provoking. All of our students dealt with topics they felt were close to their heart. We had entertaining topics ranging from “How the clothing style of rap artists has changed fashion industry” to more serious issues such as “Recycling of rubbish” or “The destructive consequences of bullying”.

Indeed, all of our 9^th Graders felt a sense of pride and accomplishment when finally completing what originally seemed like a ‘mammoth task’. An important part of the Personal Project is learning to evaluate sources. This is not only useful for academic life but in such times when all types of information are widely available, it’s becoming extremely difficult to distinguish between reliable and questionable sources. The IB program and the Personal project teach students to critically evaluate the reliability of sources used.

During the day an exhibition of Personal projects was displayed in the Learning street of the School. All students and teachers were invited to visit it, ask questions and learn the results of our 9th graders' personal inquiries.
