Moscow Economic School’s (MES) history began when the school was registered on February 1, 1993 with the Moscow city government. After a quick seven months, the first bell was rung at Moscow Economic School in September 1993.

On December 30, 2010, the school was granted the status of gymnasium (a school with higher accreditation) by the Russian Ministry of Education and Science.

MES is a private educational institution that offers classes for students ranging from kindergarten to 12th grade.

Moscow Economic School is a member of the European Council of International Schools (ECIS) and the Association for the Advancement of International Education (AAIE).

Moscow Economic School is striving to be a bilingual school. Russian is the primary language of instruction in the Primary and Middle Years Programs, but English is beginning to be used as an instructive language in their core subjects beginning in the 1st grade. By the time our students begin the Diploma Program, all of their lessons are taught in English.

Moscow Economic School has been awarded the status of examination center by Cambridge University (Cambridge ESOL Exam Preparation Center).

Since 1996, MES has offered the International Baccalaureate (IB) curriculum to students in the Primary Years Program (PYP), Middle Years Program (MYP), and Diploma Program (DP), which encompass grades 1 through 12.

Alumni who have graduated from the Diploma Program have consistently demonstrated the highest results and received the highest possible score upon graduation. MES alumni have attended the following universities: Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Yale University, Cornell University, Brown University, Colombia University, University of Pennsylvania, Stanford University, New York University, University of Michigan, University of Washington, London School of Economics, Cambridge University, Oxford University, University of Warwick, University of Birmingham, International University of Geneva, European University (Switzerland), Higher School of Economics (Russia), Moscow State University, Moscow State Institute of International Relations, The University of Hong Kong.

Students of Moscow Economic School take part in annual academic competitions like the All-Russian Olympiad, the international drawing competition, «The Wave of Fantasy», and the citywide competition in school media.

In 2013, Moscow Economic School received its reaccreditation from the Council of International Schools (CIS).

Currently there are 202 teachers at Moscow Economic School, one of which has a Doctorate of Science; fourteen of which have PhDs. Sixty percent of the faculty have received the highest marks in the first qualifying category.

Teachers of MES are not only Russian educational specialists, but they are qualified international educators. For the 2015-2015 academic year, there are 15 foreign educators on our faculty. In addition, several members of our faculty are authorized IB educators and are allowed to instruct or advise our colleagues, both domestically and internationally.

School life is organized and governed through the collaborative effort of the Student Council and the Parent Teacher Association (PTA).

The school day begins at 8:00 and ends at 5:00. Over the course of the day, students are provided up to four meals.
