The Voices of Persuasion!

On Friday 19^th April, the 7^th Class and the English department awaited with trepidation as the 8^th Class were presenting their persuasive speeches, which they had been working on in a diligent and thorough manner. Indeed, the results of their hard work rolled back the frontiers of knowledge as their teachers, Marina Pavlovna and Mark Dixey, the Judges and the 7^th Class were greeted to thought-provoking topics such as how to detect lies or whether Governments should involve young people in their political agenda.

 

Comments from some students in the 7^th Class ranged from the topics being eye-opening, captivating and relevant to nowadays such as Maria Kapustina’s speech about the threat of extinction for certain animals to the light-hearted speech how laughter is beneficial for our health by Maria Surkova to the mind-boggling and completely original speech by Vera Tsygankova on whether Time Travel is possible.

 

All the Judges, the Form Tutors and the 7^th Class were extremely impressed with the effort shown by the 8^th Class – their enthusiasm shone through as they eagerly presented their results and findings to the audience. Having heard such fine speeches that were well-prepared, it is true to say these Persuasive Speeches should:

 

-  Provide inspiration for the 8^th class next year how to present their Persuasive Speeches!

 

-  Provide inspiration for their Personal Projects next year!
